Privacy Policy

Cuelens is built to keep your work on your own machine. This policy explains what the app and this website do and do not collect, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not to be hidden behind.

The short version

• Your scripts and notes are stored locally on your Mac. Cuelens has no account and keeps no copy of them.
• The AI features use your own API key. Your prompts go directly to the provider you choose, never through Cuelens servers.
• The meeting listener transcribes on your Mac. Audio is never stored, and the transcript is kept only if you save it.
• Cuelens does not track you, does not run advertising, and does not sell data.
• Purchases are handled by the App Store or our payments provider, not by us directly.

Who we are

Cuelens is a macOS application published by the developer of Cuelens ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@cuelens.app with any question about this policy or your information.

What the app collects

Cuelens is designed to work without an account and without sending your content to us.

Your content

Scripts, notes, and settings are stored on your Mac. They are not uploaded to us and we cannot read them. Deleting them on your device deletes them everywhere they existed.

AI features (bring your own key)

To use the AI chat you provide your own API key for a provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. The key is stored in the macOS Keychain on your device. When you send a prompt, it and the relevant part of your script are sent directly from your Mac to that provider under your key. The same applies when you use the features that add context to a question: a screenshot you ask the AI to look at, or a few minutes of the live meeting transcript while listening is on. Their handling of that request is governed by their privacy policy and terms. Cuelens is not a party to that exchange and retains no copy of it.

Listening and meeting notes

When you turn listening on, Cuelens captures your Mac's audio output (the voices of the other people on a call) and transcribes it on your device using Apple's speech recognition, which is also why the app asks for the Speech Recognition permission. The audio itself is never stored and never sent to us. The transcript is held in memory only, and it is written to your library only when you choose to save it, or when you have switched on the setting that keeps a note from every meeting automatically; discarding it leaves no copy. One nuance to know: for system languages Apple cannot transcribe on the device, Apple's own speech service may process the audio under Apple's privacy terms. Listening starts and stops only when you toggle it, and the app shows a visible indicator whenever it is hearing.

The phone remote

If you pair a phone as a remote, the connection runs over your local network between your devices. Cuelens does not route it through the internet or through us.

Diagnostics

Cuelens does not include analytics or usage tracking. Diagnostic messages stay on your device and are shown only when you opt into a debug mode.

What this website collects

Our host records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) to operate and secure the site. If you join the waitlist, the email address you enter is processed by our email provider to confirm your signup (double opt-in) and to send you the launch announcement. It is used for nothing else, never sold, and removed on request; every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.

Payments

When you buy Cuelens Pro, the purchase is handled by our payments provider, which acts as the merchant of record for the sale. The payments provider processes your payment under its own privacy policy and terms. We receive only what we need to confirm and support your purchase, such as its status and the email address used at checkout. We never see or store your full card number.

Activating Cuelens Pro on a Mac sends that Mac's hardware identifier, one way hashed so the original value cannot be recovered, to our activation service, along with either the checkout email or a short code sent to confirm it. The service checks your purchase with our payments provider and returns a signed pass the app stores on that Mac; the hash exists so a copy of that pass cannot be used elsewhere, and the service keeps no separate record of it once the check is made.

Service providers

The parties that may process limited information on our behalf or at your direction are: your chosen AI provider (only when you use the AI features), our payments provider and merchant of record (for purchases), our email provider (for the waitlist), and our website host. Each acts under its own privacy terms.

How long we keep information

Because your content stays on your device, its retention is up to you. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and then discarded.

Your choices and rights

You can remove your stored API key from Settings at any time, and delete your scripts and notes on your device. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you. To make a request, email support@cuelens.app and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

Cuelens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for material changes, note them on this page. Continuing to use Cuelens after a change means you accept the updated policy.
